Why I Am Saying YES

I first said "YES!" to Santorini in 2019, around three years after my yoga journey began.
I. Was. Terrified. I had never traveled alone. I had never traveled internationally. I had been let go of my job just months before take-off and had a period of unemployment to reconcile financially. I was (am) a single mom and finances weren't very "padded" as it was. I had never been away from my child for any recreational reason for this long.

It was saying "yes" to this opportunity, in spite of the fear-based narratives, that triggered my determination to redefine my relationship with fear. So...

I leapt.

That initial "yes" four years ago was the catalyst to major change in my life! Ultimately leading me to quit the corporate work world, and dive into entrepreneurship, and teaching yoga full time, with the goal of eventually teaching international retreats and taking this life-changing practice all over the world!

Fast forward to 2024. I was almost two years (and two local retreats) into my full time career and waiting for the perfect time that I was "ready" to take this show on the road. In other words... letting fear--of not being good enough, or smart enough, or liked enough, or having my ducks in a row enough to make this happen--hold me back from literally making my dreams come true. I recognized what was happening, and once again.... I leapt.

I said YES to Santorini once again! Most importantly... I said YES to having faith in myself!!!

The planning of my first international retreat was so much fun, until I was met with what seemed like impossible hurdles, possible huge loss of income, big uncertainty, and.... self-doubt. Meanwhile, I was still navigating big hurdles in my professional/personal life outside of the planning of this retreat, so I felt like I was being given every reason to abort mission. But..... that couldn't be how this story goes, now, could it?! I leaned into every single YES I have that called me to create this retreat in the first place. And the universe eventually laid everything out for my success (with very many sleepless nights and endless hard work on my part!).

Saying YES in 2024 despite being offered so many reasons to bail resulted in one of the most empowering experiences in my life, with some of the most magical people.

My intention for this retreat remains to offer an opportunity for transformation as you to explore YOUR yeses, and find personal empowerment through movement, meditation, workshops, and adventures in one of the most beautiful places on Earth!

My Santorini Experience

After taking that initial leap as a retreatee, saying "YES!" to something wildly out of my comfort zone, I felt a shift. I found myself exploring freely, bonding and opening up to "strangers" more freely, creating a deeper capacity to love friends that I already loved, trying scary things, navigating unknown lands (literally, from tip to tip, the whole land, getting lost on more than one occasion with the biggest smile and the deepest laughter the whole time!), and more. The social/general anxiety that usually exists within me seemed to melt away, and everything felt like home. I met magical people in whimsical shops and fell in love with a waiter after he personally de-boned my fish during a group dinner outing. I was tattooed at the coolest tattoo shop and got to know the awesome owner's crazy inspiring life story over shared local beers while friends got their tattoos. I ate the most delicious foods that were all healthy! (I even came home 3 lbs lighter!) I watched the moon set for the first time in my life. I befriended the dopest bartender, and shared laughter and great conversation and karaoke over fancy drinks for hours after the club closed. I became besties with a local stray dog, and pet as many more as I could. I said hello to every yellow butterfly that crossed my path, reminding me of the transformation that was happening within me. I said yes to as many new experiences as I could and fell back into my power, and out of fear. For a whole week!

Beyond reclaiming the power of my YES, I found space to equally empower my NO. One powerful YES triggered something big and the more I said yes to what was undeniably FOR ME, I found myself NOT saying yes to things that didn't resonate. Things that I might've done in the past just to appease the comfort of someone else.

Saying YES as a retreat host in 2024 empowered me in a much different way. Standing strong in my YES was the greatest challenge of determination, drive, and resiliency. I (re)gained a deep understanding that no matter what I plan for, no matter what I think things "should" be like, I ultimately have much less control than I think I do, and things will happen as they happen. I always have a choice. To cling to that false sense of control and stay disappointed, or... to trust the process and go with the flow, with intent. To let fear drive the bus in an attempt to avoid discomfort or mistakes or failures, or... to move with faith through all things and trust how it happens is ultimately meant to create the space for what was meant for me.

  • Numerous restaurants, shops, and local markets within walking distance

  • Each room has private bathroom (w/ hairdryer)

  • Short ride to public beaches

Pack for warm weather! Maybe a light jacket for evenings. A bathing suit or two. Water shoes for the beach will be helpful as they can be a bit rocky in some places. Good walking/hiking shoes! Especially if you plan to join in on the cross-island hike! A backpack or comfortable tote for wandering around town and exploring the island. An adaptor for your plug-in devices. Sunscreen! You may choose to bring your own personal yoga mat. (I will continue chatting with the hotel about ordering props like blocks at the very least!)

Other wonderful suggestions have been to bring compression socks for the long flights, a change of clothes on your carry-on, copies of credit cards/IDs/important travel docs.

Other than that, bring an open mind and an adventurous heart!

Cash (euros) is most appreciated!! Do not expect anywhere to accept US currency. Many places accept credit cards, and you can find ATMs on the island (expect a fee!) Some smaller stores do not accept cards and will give you a better deal if using local currency. Buses and taxis do not accept cards. Public Restrooms may charge (0.50euro) and do not accept card. Having euros to tip is essential!

No, this is not an "entry requirement" to travel to Greece.
